FAQs

Candle Care:  It is very important to take care of your candles in order to get the best scent throw and longest life out of them. Always trim your wick to 1/4” before burning your candles.  I cannot stress how important this is!  I know that this can be difficult to do when the candle is lower down in the jar, but there is a tool for that!  Wick trimmers are available in many places, and are very inexpensive. Just Google 'candle wick trimmer’ and you’re good to go!

Also, when you burn your candles, be prepared to burn your candle for a full 1-2 hours in order to create a full, even melt pool. Extinguishing your candle too soon can cause imperfections in the wax, which may cause problems with future burning. I know that things happen, so this is just some advice to go by. Your mileage may vary.

Soy Wax:  Soy wax is the most difficult wax to work with in terms of candle making, but it is worth it because it is 100% natural and safe to burn with no ill effects. The fragrance oils I use do not contain carcinogens or phthalates, and the wicks I use are 100% cotton.

If you see white spots or streaks on the outside of your candle, that is called frosting and is completely normal with soy candles. It is something that is nearly impossible to prevent. It does not, in any way, affect the way your candle will smell or burn. It is also a good way for you to be able to tell that you have a 100% soy candle! Candles that are soy mixed with paraffin will not frost. Other wax types also will not frost.

When you extinguish your candle, sometimes the top of your candle may have a rough, bumpy appearance. That is completely normal with soy wax and does not indicate a flaw in the candle.

You may notice an area where the wax looks like it has pulled away from the glass. We call this a wet spot, and it occasionally occurs due to temperature changes. If it happens before the candle leaves my shop, I do my very best to correct it. Overall, it is just an aesthetic issue and will not affect the burning or smell of your candle!

Shipping:  I will ship your order within 1 week of you placing the order. I normally ship Priority Mail, and shipping is free.

I do my very best to package the candles very well to ensure they don’t get broken in transit. Unfortunately, once they are in the hands of the USPS, they are out of my control. However, in the 2 years that I have been operating, I have only had 2 instances of candles being broken!

If your candle(s) arrive broken, simply contact me at wickedgoodcandleco@gmail.com. Send me a picture of the broken product, and I will be happy to replace it!

Returns:  Because each candle is custom made (you pick the jar and scent) I do not accept returns.

I am always willing to make a candle in a different color than is pictured or get a new scent if there is one you’re interested in that you don’t see.   Please contact me if you have questions or would like to make a custom change to a candle. This is my passion, and I love new ideas!
